(Brownsville, Texas)-At Sams Stadium on Thursday night, the Brownsville Veterans Memorial Chargers (5-2, 2-1) knocked off rivals, Brownsville Pace (3-4, 2-1) in a convincing 57-7 win to remain in second place in District 16-5A Division I.

It was all defense by the Chargers as they picked off Pace four times, including a pick-six by LB Jaime Martinez. Offensively, Chargers Bryan Chavez was unstoppable as the 6’0 210lb running back scored four rushing touchdowns, with three scores coming in the first half as the Chargers led 29-0. In the second half, the Vikings returned a 95-yard kickoff by Danny Delgado to make it 29-7. It would be the only score the Brownsville Pace Vikings would score for the night.

The Chargers will now play Donna North next at Bennie La Prade Stadium on Friday night while the Vikings will meet Donna in a key game.
