(San Antonio, Texas)-At the Alamdome in San Antonio, Texas, Dallas Madison (36-7) led the defending State 3A Champions, San Antonio Cole (31-8) 32-20 with 6:49 left to play behind the hot hand of 6’6 Rodney Geter, who had 16 points at this point and they never looked back as they won their fifth University Interscholastic League title on Saturday winning 53-51.

Dallas Madison was making its 12th tournament appearance (1996, 97, 2000, 09, 10, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22) and denied San Antonio Cole its fifth title. This was the Cougars ninth state tournament appearance (1967, 68, 89, 2006, 12, 19, 20, 21, 22).

With :47 left in the third, the Cougars narrowed Dallas Madison’s lead by tying the game at 37-37 and added a crowd cheering three-pointer to end the third period 40-39. It was the Cougars first lead of the game.

At the start of the fourth period, a drive by Latrelle Wright put Madison up 41-40 but a loose ball under the basket was picked up by SA Cole Trey Blackmore for two points to make it 42-41 with 6:37 left to play. A turnover by Cole turned into a fast break foul and a score for Madison as they took the much needed lead 44-42. SA Cole Blackmore was fouled again and he converted the bonus to tie the game at 44-44 with 5:14 left in the game.

The defending champions had hope, hopes of winning another state title, but Dallas Madison wanted a fifth state title too. But, those turnovers and fouls plagued the Cougars down the stretch as Dallas Madison celebrated its fifth state title.

Blackmore led SA Cole with 14 points and Geter finished the day with 19 points for Dallas Madison.

  1. Thanks for this glorious article. One other thing is that almost all digital cameras come equipped with the zoom lens that enables more or less of any scene to get included through ‘zooming’ in and out. All these changes in target length will be reflected inside viewfinder and on large display screen on the back of the camera.
