(Edinburg, Texas)-The Edinburg Vela Lady Sabercats (14-2, 28-5) needed a win on Tuesday night to in order to set-up a rematch against Sharyland Pioneer for a possible district title. The Lady Sabercats did just that by defeating McAllen 54-30. “McAllen gave us good game tonight,” says Lottie Zarate, head coach from Edinburg Vela HS. “Now, we will play Sharyland Pioneer on Friday.”

The last time Vela and Pioneer tangled was on January 2nd and the Lady Diamondbacks came to town and defeated the Lady Sabercats 55-43 in their first 31-5A meeting. The Sabercats has two games remaining against Pioneer and PSJA Memorial. The Sabercats were led by Janai Coleman with 16-points and Gg Betancourt added another 14-points. (HSSMImages/Jose Flores)
