(Edinburg, Texas)-High School Sports Magazine’s No.2 ranked Edinburg Vela Sabercats (25-5, 12-0) remained unbeaten In District 31-5A as they knocked off McAllen Nikki Rowe (18-11, 6-5) 70-42 on Tuesday night. The Sabercats are currently on a 12-game winning streak with season losses to Harlingen (72-60), Boerne Champion (52-51), San Antonio Madison (64-53), Katy (70-65), and Clear Lake (72-56).

As for head coach Jose Yerba, the loss dropped his Warriors into a tie for fourth place with Sharyland Pioneer. Rowe will meet Sharyland on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors are in must win situation with five games left to play against Valley View, McAllen Memorial, PSJA North, McAllen, and Pioneer, if they expect to make the playoffs in 2024.
