(Weslaco, Texas)- “We want to contend for a district title every year and play on Thanksgiving weekend,” says Weslaco Panther head football, Roy Stroman. The Panthers finished in third place after defeating Los Fresnos 21-17 in conference play last season. Stroman feels that he has found a way to beat both Harlingen and San Benito in 2023. “I think I have found a way to beat these teams. They are always tough to play,” added Stroman. Last year, the Panthers lost to Harlingen 31-21 and San Benito 44-10. All three teams, including Los Fresnos advanced two rounds deep with the Greyhounds and Cardinals going to the State 6A Regional Finals. The Panthers returns 33 lettermen but they will have to replace key positions as they will featuring three starters back on offense and four on defense.Returning is QB 5’11 Andres Sepulveda, 6’0 RB Ethan Cardenas, and RB Elias Rodriguez.
