(Mercedes, Texas)-It was not the night that Mercedes HS head football coach Roger Adame was hoping to see, but the Harlingen Cardinals (2-0) came to town for the first time and defeated the Tigers 76-21. Harlingen Cardinals RB Izaiah Bell rushed nine times for 170 yards and four touchdowns.
The Tigers are still looking its first win of the season as they will now host McAllen (1-1) this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. while the No.3 Cardinals will play host to Mission Veterans (2-0) at Boggus Stadium. The Tigers struggled at the quarterback position as the Cardinals held them to 3-of-13 passing attempts for only 81 yards and on the ground, the Cards stopped the Tigers, allowing 115 yards on the ground.
