(Los Fresnos, Texas)-Call it a homecoming for David Cantu, the new head football coach and athletic director at Los Fresnos High School this season. Cantu leaves Brownsville Veterans Memorial HS and will head a team, he once played for in high school (1992). “It’s great to be back home. I graduated from here and I started my first coaching career here. Now, it’s time to get to work,” says Cantu.

The Falcons returns only three starters on offense and if the Falcons expect to make 2021 a successful season, they will have to start winning early on. “The expectations we have for 2021 are to compete each week with intentions to win and earn our way back to the playoffs,” says Cantu.

Players to watch this season are LB Gregory Jones, probably one of the best linebackers in South Texas at 6’0 205lbs along with QB Matthew Padilla, WR Cody Taylor, OL Gerardo Garcia, and all-purpose player, Hector Muniz.

The Falcons will play non-district games against Edcouch-Elsa at home on August 27th followed by another home game against Gregory-Portland Sept 3rd.
