(Harlingen, Texas)-The No.13 ranked Harlingen South (12-8, 5-2) Hawks defeated Donna North 62-33 in a key District 32-5A match up on Tuesday night at Hawks Gymnasium. With the win, the Hawks stayed in a second place tie with Brownsville Veterans (15-6, 5-2) in the district standings. The Hawks will now play unranked Brownsville Porter on Friday night with only four games left to play. “Our team played hard tonight and plenty of credit to the Donna North basketball team. It took us a little while to find our groove tonight, but I’m proud of our team,” says Hawks head coach Brian Molina.
In more games from District 32-5A, HSSM’s ranked No.3 Weslaco East (21-7, 12-0) remained unbeaten in district play as they defeated No.11 Brownsville Veterans 58-50 and with the win, the Wildcats will play Mercedes with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. in Mercedes.
