(Arlington, Texas)-The District 3-5A Division I Aledo Bearcats (16-0) captured its 12th University Interscholastic League State 5A Division I Football title by defeating 12-5A DI Smithson Valley (14-2) 51-8 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday night. Bearcats LB Davhon Keys, a LSU commit was named Defensive MVP and RB Hawk Patrick Daniels was named UIL 5A DI Offensive MVP. Daniels rushed for 194 yards on 16 carries, scoring three touchdowns. Aledo QB Haus Hengy was 9-17-2 passing for 202 yards with two more scores. “They are a very good football team,” says Larry Hill, head coach of Smithson Valley. “I’m proud of our team and our success in 2023.” The Rangers were held to 70-total yards on offense while the Bearcats had 546 yards on offense.
