(Mission, Texas)-Before a packed Tom Landry Hall of Fame stadium, Sharyland Pioneer (6-0, 1-0) showed why they remained undefeated by knocking off Mission Veterans Memorial 56-36 (2-4, 0-1) in District 16-5A Division II on Friday night.
Pioneer QB Julian Valdez put on his best performance of the year by passing for 265 yards and four touchdowns, and he was almost flawless, completing 11-of-13 passes. He also rushed for another 165 yards.

The Diamondbacks scored first on a 11-yard run by RB Dylan Tijerina to make it 7-0. Valdez added another score with a pass to WR William Goodloe to up the lead to 14-0. Valdez was not done. He spotted WR Diego Chapa twice for a 71-yard touchdown pass and 33-yards to put the D’Backs up 29-8 in the first half.
The defense proved to be just as good by forcing four fumbles and holding the Patriots to eight points in the first half. Chapa had a great night by hauling in five catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Pioneer will play at Roma (6-0, 1-0) this Friday while the Patriots will travel to play PSJA Southwest (1-5, 0-1).
