(Corpus Christi, Texas)-The Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks (31-8) are headed to the UIL State 5A Regional Baseball Finals for the second time in school history by defeating Buda Johnson (26-11-1) 5-4 in Game Three at Cabaniss Field today.
Interim head baseball coach Shawn Moss rallied his Diamondbacks from their Game Two loss on Friday night to get to round five. The win propels the D‘Backs into a rematch against Georgetown next week in the UIL State 5A Quarterfinals. Pioneer last played Georgetown in the UIL State 5A Semifinals in 2019. The D’Backs lost to Georgetown 8-2.
