(McAllen, Texas)-The 31-5A McAllen Memorial Lady Mustangs (14-8-2) fell short of making it to the University Interscholastic League “Sweet 16” round after losing to 29-5A Gregory Portland (19-4-1) in over time 4-2 in a come-from-behind win on Saturday afternoon at Boxer Stadium. The Lady Wildcats will play 26-5A Dripping Springs (24-0) in the Class 5A Region IV Semifinals on Friday at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi, Texas at 6:30 p.m. The winner will meet McAllen or Boerne Champion in the UIL 5A Girls Soccer State Quarterfinals.

The Lady Wildcats were down. Atleast with twenty-five minutes left in the half 2-0. Then it happened, Lady Wildcat Madison Gallaugher nailed a shot with less than four minutes to play to make it 2-1 and then added another game-tying score to send the game into overtime at 2-2. Fans showed their support for their come-back Kats, yelling, “we are with you girls, all fifty of us.” In overtime, Madison added a quick score to put the Lady Wildcats up for good.
