(San Antonio, Texas)-The defending 6A University Interscholastic League champions, Desoto Lady Eagles (35-2) defeated South Grand Prairie HS (35-5) on Saturday night 40-23 to repeat as 6A UIL State Champions at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. With the win, Lady Eagles head coach Andrea Robinson collects her second straight title. “This is amazing,” said Robinson as she stood watching her team celebrate.

The Lady Eagles featured players Sa’Mayh Smith, a 6’4 senior; Tipnna Hernon, a 6’5 senior, and Amina Muhammad, a 6’4 senior, and Ayanna Thompson 6’2 point guard, all NCAA Division I signees. The Lady Warriors featured sophomore, 6’5 Adhel Tac.

Both teams tested each other in the first two periods with great defensive play as the Lady Eagles went into the locker room ahead 15-8 in the first half. In the playoffs, the Lady Eagles outscored their opponents 332-139 enroute to their second state title. (HSSMImages/Ruiz)
