(Brownsville, Texas)-Four games are set for kickoff tonight with some great match ups. High School Sports Magazine’s No.1 team, Harlingen Cardinals (1-0) will travel to play No.2 Edinburg Sabercats at Richard R. Flores Stadium while Brownsville Porter is off to an early 1-0 start as they open District 16-5A Division I against Brownsville Veterans Memorial (0-1). The Cowboys and Chargers will play at Sams Stadium in Brownsville. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. for both area games.

In more games, Weslaco (0-0) will travel to play Mission at Bill Pate Stadium in Hidalgo. The Mission Eagles (1-0) had to relocated all their home games due to stadium issues at Tom Landry Hall of Fame Stadium. This will be the Panthers first kickoff in 2021.

In a key non-district game, the PSJA North (1-0) Raiders will play host to Edcouch-Elsa (0-1), after escaping Brownsville Rivera 20-13 in overtime. “The Raiders are a good team. We got lucky,” says PN head coach Marcus Kaufmann. As for the Yellowjackets? They were favored to knock off Los Fresnos, but instead, the Falcons had other motives, winning 23-7.
