(Brownsville, Texas)-The Brownsville Hanna Eagles (1-1) scored 30 points in the second half to defeat Sharyland (1-1) 37-26 in non-district action on Saturday, at Sams Stadium.
Despite the high temperatures, the Sharyland Rattlers came out scoring first, leading the Eagles 20-0, all in the first half.

In the first half, things just went Sharyland’s way. Rattlers quarterback, Orly Lopez threw a 33-yard TD pass to WR Alan Gonzalez to take 7-0 lead over the Eagles.

Then on defense, Alec Gonzalez had a pick six to give the Rattlers a two score lead and he would again, recover a fumble forced by Alan Gonzalez to give the Rattlers more momentum. The Rattlers would make it their third score with less than a minute to play in the half on a 44-yard touchdown run by fullback Alan Guerrero. Hanna scored as time ran out to trail 20-7 at the half.

The second half was different. With the temperatures soaring, the Hanna Eagles were hydrated and came out scoring with big plays.

Hanna RB Kriz Pena had a big afternoon. He rushed for 353 yards on 33 carries with scores from 8-yards, 23-yards, including a 83-yard touchdown run.

The Hanna defense gave the Rattlers problems in the second half by forcing a safety after the punter stepped out of the endzone and a pick six for 75-yards by DB Anthony Ambriz gave the Eagles their come-from-behind win.

The Eagles will travel to play CC Miller next week while Sharyland will open District 16-5A DII against Edcouch-Elsa (0-2).
