(Harlingen, Texas)-Harlingen South HS senior linebacker, Levi Ince will be the first to tell anyone, that this season has been a ride within itself. “It’s been crazy,” says Ince. “We are going to the State 7-on-7 Championships.” And so far, it has been crazy as the Hawks are undefeated (3-0) and will meet Brownsville Hanna (1-3) to open District 32-6A at Boggus Stadium tonight. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Hawks made it to the State 7-on-7 Football Championships this past summer and new head football coach, Israel Gonzalez witnessed the transformation of his team this past summer. Now, he has transformed this Hawks team into a balanced outfit. “I’m proud of these players and their efforts this season,” said Gonzalez. To date, the Hawks have defeated Brownsville Veterans, Sharyland Pioneer, and Alice. All three teams were playoff teams from 2020, while the Hawks sat out the 2020 season and finished with a 2-4 record, missing the playoffs.

The Hawks are led by quarterback Xander Casarez (457 yards passing 5 TDs), along with WR/RB Jeremiah Rivera (166 yards 13 catches 256 yards rushing), Carlos Mossboss (164 yards rushing), and Elias Ledesma (238 yards 18 catches).

The Hawks will be challenged for the next three weeks as they meet the district opponents, Hanna Eagles tonight followed by away games against Harlingen and San Benito. Pictured is LB Kevi Ince of Harlingen South HS. (HSSMImages)
