(Pharr, Texas)-At PSJA Stadium, first-year head coach Will Littleton watched his PSJA Memorial Wolverines lose to Sharyland Pioneer 28-15 in District 16-5A Division II on Friday night. Pioneer sophomore quarterback Julian Valdez (6’0 170lbs) passed for 162 yards and two touchdowns, completing 12-of-20 passes to lead his D’Backs. Pioneer head coach Eddie Galindo led his team to a 20-3 halftime lead after WR Joseph Graham made a great catch in the endzone. Graham ended the night with seven catches for 97 yards.

The Wolverines are still winless in 2021 with 0-4, 0-2 records and Littleton will take a week off with his team and will continue his quest for his first career win as they travel to play Valley View (0-4, 0-2) on October 1st. The Diamondbacks (2-1, 1-0) will return home next week and will meet Valley View in another district game. The Wolverines are currently on a 18-game losing streak, dating back to November 9, 2018, when they beat Donna 17-14. It feels good. The kids played hard and we won this game the old fashion way. We had a difficult loss a few weeks ago. This win helps,” says Galindo. “I’m enjoying my first year as a head coach too.”
