(McAllen, Texas)-Harlingen South HS head basketball coach, Rebecca Littleton talked about her teams chances against beating the 31-5A McAllen Memorial HS Lady Mustangs (24-10) during pre-game. “We have a chance. We match-up well,” said Littleton. In the end, the 32-5A Lady Hawks (20-18) faltered as they lost a heart-breaker to the Lady Mustangs 48-43 in the Class 5A Bi-District Championships on Monday night. With the win, the Lady Mustangs will play 29-5A Corpus Christi Veterans (27-9) this weekend in the area playoffs.
Lady Mustangs head coach Clarissa Arredondo watched her team miss continuous three-pointers in the first half, including seven by sophomore Madison Borjas (5’0) who converted just one attempt as the first half ended with the Lady Mustangs trailing the Lady Hawks 20-16. In the first half, the Lady Hawks did make their downtown shots, converting four three’s but in the second half, both teams played great offense and defense.
