AUSTIN, TX-And it happened. The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday, October 25 to hand down decisions on possible rules violations on two San Marcos High School Football Coaches.
For violations of Section 409, Recruiting, San Marcos High School football John Walsh was issued a one-year suspension from post district play for the 2023-2024 season and was issued a five-game suspension along with assistant football coach Lee Vallejo, who was issued a two-year suspension from coaching and three years probation.
Last week, eleven freshmen players were ruled ineligible for three years after the UIL announced that they transferred to San Marcos for recruiting and athletic purposes. All eleven players played on a summer junior league who were coached by a volunteer coach from the San Marcos HS football team.
Currently, the San Marcos Varsity team is 3-5, 1-2 in District 27-6A and in fourth place with two games left to play.
