(Mission, Texas)-It wasn’t pretty. It was kinda…Ka-boom! The Sharyland Rattlers (4-4, 3-0) romped past the Mission Veterans Patriots (4-4, 1-2) 47-21 on Friday night at Richard Thompson Stadium. The win keeps the Rattlers in first place in District 16-5A Division II, tied with crosstown rivals, Sharyland Pioneer (6-2, 3-0). Both teams will meet this Friday night in the Blue Diamond Realty Group Game of the Week.

Rattler QB Bo Krell put his team on the scoreboard early on with a 20-yard touchdown strike on a diving catch by WR Alan Gonzalez to make it 7-0. Again, feeling their groove, both teammates would connect again, this time on a 58-yard touchdown pass, still in the first quarter to up their lead to 23-7. Krell would connect again, this time with WR Alek Gonzalez to take a 30-7 lead, shocking the Patriots.

Defensively, the Rattlers were on fire. Edinburg Vela transfer QB, Brayden Lukedeker, now at Mission Veterans, was sacked by Sharyland DL Caden Requenez at their own 44-yard line and the Rattlers would take over again. RB Alan Guerrero increase the Rattler score on a 35-yard run to put his team up 40-7 in the third quarter. Head coach Craig Krell made the call to his son and Bo would find WR Gabriel Garza for another touchdown pass. And for Krell, he made that touchdown pass look easy. Krell finished the night with 249 yards passing and four scores. Guerrero led all rushers with 15 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots gave up the ball three times and will now host PSJA Memorial this Friday night and end its season on the road against Roma.
