(La Joya, Texas)-With the University Interscholastic League State Soccer playoffs set to kick off on March 24th, the High School Sports Magazine’s No.2 ranked 31-6A La Joya Juarez-Lincoln Lady Huskies (17-1, 13-1) punched its way into the state playoffs with a 5-0 win over La Joya HS on Tuesday night. The Lady Huskies can wrap up the district title on Saturday when they meet third place, Edinburg North.
In District 31-6A play, the Edinburg Vela HS Lady Sabercats (16-4, 14-2) blanked Mission 5-0 to remain one game behind the Lady Huskies. The Lady Sabercats have clinched a playoff spot in 2022 in will enter the playoffs as the possible runner-ups. Both Vela and Juarez-Lincoln split their series.
Other teams headed to playoffs are McAllen, McAllen Memorial, Sharyland, and McAllen Nikki Rowe all from District 31-5A while Brownsville Porter, Brownsville Veterans, Donna, have clinched playoff berths in District 32-5A and the 32-6A Harlingen Lady Cardinals wins the title, enters the playoffs as the number one seed in Class 6A with Los Fresnos, Harlingen South, and Brownsville Hanna all headed to the soccer playoffs.
From District 30-5A, Mission Veterans, Laredo Martin, Laredo Cigarroa, and La Joya Palmview have also clinched playoff berths while 32-5A will send district champs, Brownsville Porter, along with Brownsville Veterans, and Donna HS.
Also clinching playoff berths from Class 4A are Jubilee Brownsville, IDEA Frontier, IDEA Riverview, and Harmony School of Innovation all from 32-4A. Other 4A schools from the Rio Grande Valley include IDEA North Mission and IDEA College Prep.
The UIL soccer playoffs begins next week with Class 4A Midlothian, Class 5A Dripping Springs, and 6A Lewisville Flower Mound returning as the defending champions. The UIL Girls Soccer State tournament will be played at the Birkelbach Stadium in Georgetown, Texas April 13-16th.
