(Lyford, Texas)-The 32-3A runner-ups, Lyford Bulldogs (21-9) have found a way to win in the University Interscholastic League State 3A Baseball playoffs as they defeated 29-3A Goliad (23-8) in the Best of Three series 6-5, 12-13, and 3-2 in the area championships. All one-run wins. Now, the Lyford Bulldogs will take on a bigger task as they meet THSBCA State 3A No.2 Corpus Christi London (33-2) this weekend at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi in the Best of Three series beginning on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with Game One. On Saturday, Game Two will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by Game Three, if necessary.
The Bulldogs picked up playoff wins against Monte Alto and Goliad in the first two rounds while CC London eliminated George West and Santa Rosa, all shutouts, outscoring their opponents 45-0. The winner will meet 25-3A Tidehaven or 25-3A Columbus in the regional semifinals. (HSSMImages/Lyford ISD)
