(Edinburg, Texas)-Make that five wins in a row as the PSJA Bears (5-3, 3-0) defeated the 31-6A Champions, Edinburg North (4-4, 2-1) Cougars 42-12 on Thursday night at Richard R. Flores Stadium. With the win, the Bears are tied with Edinburg for first place.

Bears RB Jorge Alanis was the difference on Thursday night as he rushed for 185 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns. “I’m proud of our team tonight,” says Bears head coach, Lupe Rodriguez. “This was a big win for us.”
The Bears took a commanding 35-0 at halftime with senior quarterback, Jaime Lopez ending the night with 24-of-38 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns. WR Ryan Vallejo led all receivers with 11 catches for 140 yards and two scores.

The Cougars will play Edinburg High (2-5, 2-0) next Friday at Richard R. Flores Stadium while the Bears will travel to play Mission High (2-5, 0-2) next Friday at Tom Landry Stadium in Mission.
