(Edcouch, Texas)-The 2022 UIL State 5A Division II quarterfinalists, Flour Bluff Hornets (3-2, 1-0) made the big plays from the start as they defeated Edcouch-Elsa 42-3 (2-4, 0-1) at Benny Layton Sr Memorial Stadium on Friday night in the High School Sports Magazine’s Game of the Week. With the loss, the Yellowjackets drops to 0-1 in District 15-5A Division II. The Jackets will travel to meet Gregory-Portland (5-1, 1-0) next Friday night while the Hornets will host Mercedes (2-4, 1-0).
Flour Bluff junior quarterback Jayden Paluseo had a big night with touchdown passes of 74, 36, 61, 24, 15, for 401 yards to give the Hornets its first district win of the season. On defense, the Hornets held the Jackets to less than 200 yards of total offense with DE 6’7 Brontarious Tunstall leading the Hornets.
