(McAllen, Texas)-The McAllen Memorial (6-3, 4-2) Mustangs and McAllen Bulldogs (7-2, 4-2) are both headed to the Class 5A Bi-District Championships. Both teams will play each other next week in their season finale at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium for the third and fourth place seedings.

On Thursday night, the Mustangs eliminated the Rio Grande City Rattlers (3-6, 2-4) 24-6 while the Bulldogs ended crosstown rivals, McAllen Nikki Rowe’s (4-5, 3-3) hopes of a playoff bid.

“I’m so proud of this team and they way believe in each other. Day by day, they (Memorial) get better and better, and we are excited to be back in the playoffs. We are focusing on our next opponent, and feel that our journey is not yet done. McHi is a good team and Coach Patrick Shelby does a great job. It should be a great Friday Night Lights atmosphere at DQ Fan Field this week,” says Moses Patterson, Mustang head football coach. (HSSMImages/Montalvo)
