(Pharr, Texas)-The PSJA Memorial Wolverines (2-0) wasted no time as they scored three touchdowns in the first quarter to get their second win over Brownsville Porter (0-2) 53-20. “We got better and we want to use these games to get better before district play,’ says Will Littleton, PSJA Memorial head football coach. “We were definitely better this week than last week. We have a big game against Donna next, so we have to get ready.” The Brownsville Porter Cowboys were forced to punt from their own 15-yard line and a line-drive punt fell right into the hands of Wolverines LB Issac Mariscal for a 38-yard touchdown return to put the Wolverines up 7-0. On the kickoff, Littleton made the call for an onside kick and it paid off too. The Wolverines quickly took advantage of that opportunity with a 49-yard touchdown run by QB Ryan Reyna to make it 14-0. On the next Porter possession, again, they were forced to punt with the Wolverines gaining great field position. A few plays later, Ryan spotted WR Robert Morales for a 21-yard touchdown pass to make it 22-0. All three scores came within the first four minutes of the first quarter. Porter will will play host to Donna North next Friday night at Sams Stadium while the Wolverines will travel to play at Donna on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
