(Weslaco, Texas)-The Weslaco East Wildcats (3-3, 1-1) defeated Brownsville Lopez (1-5, 0-2) on Friday night 48-0 at Bobby Lackey Stadium in Weslaco in a key District 16-5A Division I game. “We played a good team tonight,” says Wildcat head coach, Michael Burget. “Now, it’s time to prepare for Brownsville Veterans next week.”
The Wildcats three losses have been against Los Fresnos (42-7), Edinburg Vela (42-35), and Harlingen South (23-16), but Burget knows that those losses were against teams with positive records too. “Last year, we share the district title and we also got lucky by defeating Brownsville Veterans (22-21) so this upcoming will not be easy,” adds Burget.
