(McAllen, Texas)-The 31-6A Sharyland Rattlers (27-6) lost to 29-5A Corpus Christi Carroll (23-10) 4-1 in Game Two of the University Interscholastic League Region IV-5A Area Baseball Championships on Friday night at McAllen HS. With the win, Game Three will be played at Cabaniss Field today at 5:00 p.m. today. Maybe?

On Saturday morning, the predicted rains and thunderstorms showed up in Texas, putting a damper on today’s UIL Baseball, Softball, playoff games, including the UIL State Track and Field Championships. “We are preparing to find fields,” says Weslaco High School Athletic Coordinator, Roy Stroman. “It’s going to be a long day. We could be playing on Monday.”

In Game Two, the Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks defeated La Joya Palmview to force a third game today at Mission Veterans Memorial HS. But, with thunderstorms and lighting in the area, this game could be pushed back this evening or maybe, even Monday. The Palmview/Pioneer game has since been moved to Monday at 7:00 p.m.

In the Laredo area, McAllen Nikki Rowe is expected to play CC Ray at the UniTrade Center in Game Two at 12:00 noon while Eagle Pass will play Brownsville Rivera in Game Three at 12:00 noon at Laredo Veterans Field.

In softball, the Weslaco Lady Panthers defeated SA O’Connor on Friday night to force Game Three while San Benito was set to play SA Harlan, but that game will be played on Monday at Cabaniss Field on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
