In a key District 32-3A basketball showdown, the Santa Rosa Warriors (17-7, 10-0) converted 12-of-20 free throws to defeat Rio Hondo HS 72-59 on Friday night. With the win, the Warriors begins the second half of the season with a perfect 10-0 mark as the Bobcats drops to (16-10, 9-2).
Santa Rosa HS Bryan Rojas led his Warriors with 15-points for the night, as they took a 16-7 lead after the first period before ending the half leading 37-21. In the second half, the Bobcats outscored the Warriors 25-19, all in the final period, but the Warriors held on to win. Game officials had a field day with foul-calling as the Bobcats forward Lopez, went 19-times to the free throw line and converted 16 free throws to end the night with twenty-two points.
