(Weslaco, Texas)-At Bobby Lackey Stadium on Thursday night, Edinburg Vela (3-0) rotated two quarterbacks, senior Bobby Garcia and sophomore Myles Lopez as they both combined for four touchdowns to lead the Sabercats to a 54-7 win over Weslaco East. With the win, the Sabercats remains perfect at 3-0 in non-district games and will kickoff District 16-5A Division I next Thursday night at Richard Flores Stadium in the Blue Diamond Realty Group Game of the Week.
Vela RB Jamal Polley led the Sabercats with ten carries for 155 yards and WR Carlos Tamez had a big night hauling in three touchdown catches. Sophomore QB Lopez spotted Tamez twice for TDs while QB Garcia ran for a score and threw a TD to Tamez. Vela netted 339 yards of offense against the Wildcats.
