(Weslaco, Texas)-It was a night filled with emotions as families watched from both sides of the stands, during the Weslaco East win over La Joya Palmview 48-12 at Bobby Lackey Stadium. “It’s a problem,” said La Joya ISD Athletic Director, Victora Garza. “I keep seeing these EMS teams not responding with a sense of urgency.”

Weslaco EMS responders could be seen taking their time, looking confused at times, as they walked to the field to attend to injured players. “Hurry up,” fans yelled but, the Weslaco EMS Responders took their time. In back-to-back instances, Two La Joya Palmview players went down. One sustained a severe concussion and he laid flat, facing down and a few minutes later, another Palmview linemen went down with a “DAK Prescot” injury. One administrator said, “I don’t know why they (EMS) are taking their time.”

The Weslaco East Wildcats (4-2) looked really good throughout the night as they dominated the line of scrimmage and they will now face Brownsville Lopez (0-7, 0-6) this Thursday night and with two games remaining, the Wildcats will need to win out against McAllen Nikki Rowe and McAllen Memorial if they expect to make the playoffs.
