(La Joya, Texas)-“We won the coin flip, that’s a good sign,” said Edinburg High School head coach, Rene Guzman as they were set to play the La Joya Coyotes this morning at La Joya ISD Stadium. That was a good sign as the Bobcats went on to beat the La Joya Coyotes in a 21-0 shutout in District 31-6A. The win propels the Bobcats to fourth place with a 4-4, 4-2 overall record while the Coyotes dropped in the standings with a 2-5, 1-4 record. Both teams ended the first quarter scoreless until the Bobcats scored twice to end the half at 14-0. “We will continue to do the same and minimize the mistakes,” says Guzman. “We need to handle the adversity better than our opponent.” (HSSMImages)
