(Mercedes, Texas)-The Mercedes Tigers (6-1, 4-1) were upset by the Sharyland Rattlers (4-2, 3-1) 28-21 in District 16-5A Division II on Friday night at Tigers Stadium. Mercedes quarterback Michael Cisneros put the Tigers up early with a 25-yard touchdown pass to WR Xavier Sanchez to lead 7-0 over Sharyland. The Rattlers answered right back to tie the game at 7-7 on a 70-yard touchdown run by Alan Gonzalez. Tiger players thought he was down and he broke loose down the sidelines. On the Rattlers next possession, kicker Mikaeli Nguma nailed a 48-yard field goal to give his team a 10-7 lead.

Down 10-7 in the third quarter, Cisneros spotted WR Joseph Rocha on a 15-yard TD to lead 14-10. In the fourth quarter, Nguma would connect on a beautiful 46-yard field goal to trail the Tigers 13-14. The Rattlers took control for the rest of the night with their biggest lead 28-14. QB Alek Gonzales scored on a 9-yard run and the Rattler defense came up big on a 55-yard interception return by Alan Gonzalez to give the Rattlers a 28-14 lead.
