(Edinburg, Texas)-In the High School Sports Magazine’s Feature Game of the Week, senior quarterback, Chase Campbell was on fire Thursday night as he threw for four touchdown passes as the No.2 Edinburg Vela Sabercats (2-0) defeated No.1 Harlingen (1-1) 30-3 in non-district action at Richard R. Flores Stadium.
The Sabercats played tough defense. Real tough. In the first half, the Sabercats allowed three points scored and came out even stronger in the second half, by holding the high-power Cardinal offense to no scores.
Offensively, Campbell had his favorite targets on the field making the plays. Running back P.J. Rivera scored on two passing touchdowns, followed by WR Carlos Tamez and Justin Vega, catching one TD pass each. The Sabercats will travel next week to PSJA Stadium to meet the undefeated PSJA North Raiders (2-0) intheir District 31-6A opener.
