(Edinburg, Texas)-The Edinburg Bobcats (2-2, 2-0) knocked off Edinburg Economedes 49-9 on Friday night at Richard R. Flores Stadium to remain in first place in District 31-6A for the second week in a row.
Head coach Rene Guzman has his “soldiers” marching in the right direction as they will meet Mission (3-1, 2-0) next week in a district showdown of unbeaten District 31-6A teams next Thursday night at home. “We will have our work cut out for us as we prepare for Mission. We need to eliminate the small errors. It’s going to be a big game,” says Guzman. “The Jags are a good team and our defense did a great job tonight.”
The Bobcats led 7-0 after the first quarter but things started to fall apart for the Jaguars in the second quarter as the Bobcats scored 21 points to take a 28-3 lead at the half and never looked back.
The Jaguars (1-3, 0-2) will play at PSJA (2-1, 1-0) next Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
