(Pharr, Texas)-The Roma Gladiators (2-1, 1-0) defeated PSJA Southwest 37-14 inDistrict 16-5A DII on Thursday night at PSJA Stadium. With the win, the Gladiators will play host to Mission Veterans Memorial (1-2, 1-0) next Friday night. The Gladiators scored a touchdown right before half to lead 17-0. The Javelinas responded with less than minute to play, with a 52-yard touchdown pass to WR Angel Hernandez, who made a great catch and rushed into the end-zone to cut the Gladiators lead 17-7 at the half. The Javelinas (0-3, 0-1) made it to the UIL State 5A DII playoffs last season under then, head football coach Mike Evans. He resigned a few weeks ago to coach at Weslaco East High School.
