(La Joya, Texas)- “We’ll be ready,” says La Joya High School head football coach, Reuben Farias.  Entering his sixth-year with the La Joya Coyotes, Farias gets to lead his team on the field after the 2020 football season was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coyotes will play in the newly realigned District 31-6A which took place last February in 2020. The Coyotes will open their season with a non-district schedule against La Joya Palmview on August 27th followed by an away game against La Feria from 16-4A DI.

The Coyotes will meet Mission at La Joya Pack Stadium on September 10th in their 31-6A opener and will travel the following Thursday to play Edinburg Vela on September 16th.

Players to watch are quarterback Tristen Trevino, DT Daniel Ochoa, WR Oiram Santos, Adrian Carrizalez, Carlos Perez, and LB Daniel Lopez.

Farias will depend on players like Carlos Perez on defense. He had 35 tackles and five quarterback sacks with one interception as a sophomore. He is now a senior.

“We just need to take one game at a time and we could make the playoffs in 2021,” says Farias.
