(Pharr, Tx)-PSJA Southwest’s win over Sharyland 21-7 in 2020 clinched a playoff bid for head coach, Mike Evans and the Javelinas did it with just 26 players on that Saturday afternoon on December 5th. “This is awesome,” said Evans, as he was drenched with water by his team, to celebrated that historic moment. The Javelinas lost to San Antonio Alamo Heights 34-0 in the Class 5A Bi-District Championships. He has since resigned.

The Javelinas return two starters on offense and four on defense. Players to watch on offense are RB Angel Hernandez (407 yards rushing) and QB Eric Malpica (242 yards rushing). Also OL Oscar De La Cruz (6’3 290lbs), OL Greg Ramirez, and RB Jonathon Gomez will add depth to the Javelinas on offense.

Defensively,  DL Joan De La Garza (6’1 250lbs) will lead his Hogs with DB Sergio Rodriguez, DB Caleb Torres, and LB Humberto De Anda.

Under Evans, his teams have gone 0-10, 4-6, 3-7, and 4-4 with one 5A appearance in 2020.
