(Corpus Christi, Texas)-Just call the Harlingen South Lady Hawks (35-4), the “Comeback Girls” as they eliminated Leander High School Lady Lions in the Best of Three Series 2-3, 10-7, 3-2 in the Class 5A Region IV Softball Semifinals. With the win, the 32-5A Lady Hawks advances to the State 5A Quarterfinals next week and will play 25-5A Liberty Hill. Harlingen South head coach Joe Rios has a new nickname. Just call him “Heart Attack Joe”. “What a comeback these girls have done in back to back games,” says Joe Rios.

In Games Two and Three, the Lady Hawks won it all in the seventh inning. In Game Two, sophomore Jaylin Mata hit a three-run homer to give the Lady Hawks a 10-7 over the Lady Lions. In Game Three, the Lady Hawks nailed a base hit to end Leander’s hopes of a come back.
