(San Antonio, Texas)-At the Alamodome in San Antonio, the Dallas Kimball Knights put on a show with their numerous of slam-dunks as they defeated Houston Washington 71-48 in the University Interscholastic League State 4A Division I Boys Basketball Championships. In fifteen state final appearances, the Knights captured their 8th overall state title in school history.
The Knights (28-5) from the get-go, hit 53.3% of their shots in the first quarter and ended the first half converting 15-of-31 shots, including seven dunks. The Knights ended the night with 30-of-61 shots converted and Washington was outscored 19-4 in the second half. Marri Wickware was named the UIL 4A DI MVP after leading his Knights with 21 points, 5 slam dunks, seven rebounds, four assist, and five steals. Head coach Nikke Smith was proud after watching his team dominate in the second half. “We played tough defense and forced Washington to turnover the ball,” added Smith.
