(Harlingen, Texas)-High School Sports Magazine’s No.10 Harlingen Cardinals (1-0) handed the No.8 Weslaco Panthers (0-1) its first loss of the season winning 42-28 at Boggus Stadium on Friday night in Week One of Texas High School Football. The Panthers will play next Friday against McAllen Memorial (1-0) at McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday while the Cardinals will battle Harlingen South (1-0) in the Bird Bowl.
Cardinals running back Noah Huerta rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries while freshmen quarterback Hassan Woolery broke loose on a 61-yard touchdown to lead the Cards to victory. He finished the night with nine carries for 99 yards. Senior QB Jonas Serna came in and threw for two touchdowns completing 7-of-11 passes for 130 yards.
