With the win, the Lady Lobos clinches the outright District 30-5A title. “This is a great win for our program,” said Lobos head coach, Jessica Russell. “My niece, Arianna pitched a great game too. What can I say?”
In the first inning Alaniz, hit a homerun over the left field fence to score three runs. From this point on, she was superb on the mound with popping pitches at almost 70mph. “I played a great game tonight,” said Alaniz. “This is a team sport and I love my teammates.”
Alaniz takes over the MaxPreps National spotlight as the No.1 ranked pitcher in the United States amongst high school pitchers this season with 327 strikeouts with an earned run average of 0.84 in 141 innings. “Wow, that’s pretty good to be ranked,” said Alaniz. “I’m proud.” She now has 929 career strikeouts.
