(La Joya, Texas)-At PACK Stadium, the PSJA North Raiders (6-0, 3-0) inched their way, closer to a possible district title by defeating the La Joya Palmview Lobos (4-2, 1-2) 35-7 on Friday night. Raiders junior running back Jason Montes rushed for 166 yards on 22 carries as the Raiders overcame a 14-7 lead and ended the night by shutting down the Lobos in the second half. In total, the Raiders kept the ball on the ground, rushing 47 times for 378 yards with six different ball carriers.
The Raiders will now play McAllen Nikki Rowe (5-1, 3-0) next Friday night at home while the Lobos will travel to play the Rio Grande City Rattlers (3-3, 1-2) at Joe R. Sanchez Stadium. “They did a very good job by keeping the ball away from us in the first half. They are very strong team. We still held them to less than 180 total yards,” said PSJA North Raiders head coach, Marcus Kaufmann. “Now, it’s our Homecoming night.”
