(Corpus Christi, Texas)-It took the La Joya Palmview Lobos (25-8) three games to knock off the New Braunfels Unicorns (28-8) on Saturday night in the UIL Class 5A Division I Region IV Semifinals. The Lobos overcame a Game One loss 10-1 to bounce back with a 5-1, 9-3 win in the remaining two games. “This is incredible,” said Lobos head coach, Rick Garcia. “This team never quits.” The Lobos will now play 26-5A Smithson Valley (23-11) in the Best of Three series beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Beeville Coastal Bend College on Friday. Game Two will be played on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Game Three to follow if needed. The Lobos jumped on the Unicorns quick leading 5-0 and a homer by senior captain, Adrian Garza sealed the victory for the Lobos 9-3 on Saturday night. Freshmen pitcher Osi Lopez pitched a complete game for the Lobos to pick up the win. “He was huge off the mound,” said Garcia.
