(Pharr, Texas)-The District 31-6A champions, PSJA (31-3-1) Bears made history! In Game Two, the Bears defeated the 26-6A Austin Westlake Chaps (27-8-1) 11-5 in the University Interscholastic League 6A Division II Region IV Semifinals on Saturday afternoon at PSJA HS Stadium. With the win, the Bears will play 26-6A Dripping Springs in the UIL State 6A DII Baseball Quarterfinals Best of Three series at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi, Texas beginning on Thursday night with Game One at 7:00 p.m. “This is just an amazing feeling. Our fans are cheering. Our team is celebrating. We just made history,” said Bears head coach Marco Guajardo. Game Two is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will follow with Game Three on Saturday if needed. In the playoffs, the PSJA Bears have been dominate. On Saturday, senior starting pitcher, Jacob Delgadillo got off to a shaky start giving up two hits and three walks as the Chaps led 2-0. The Bears responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Delgadillo never looked back. “This win is for my teammates. They had my back. This is for them,” said Delgadillo. In the playoffs, the Bears have swept their Best-of-Three series against Brownsville Veterans, Shertz-Clemens, and Austin Westlake. “They are a good ball club,” said Austin Westlake head coach, JT Blair.
