(McAllen, Texas)-The McDonald’s All-South Texas Football selections by High School Sports Magazine have been announced for the 2024 season. All head football coaches selected will be invited to attend the annual awards banquet to be hosted in April 25th at the IBC Bank Center at Ruben M. Torres Blvd in Brownsville, Texas. All coaches selected will received McDonald’s/HSSM All South Texas Plaques. The MoDonald’s All-South Texas Football Coach of the Year will also be announced. Tickets for dinner will be available for parents, friends, guests. “This is a premier event for South Texas and we are proud of all selections and coaches,” says David “Tddave” Amador, publisher of High School Sports Magazine. This event is to benefit the Cameron County Education Initiative with special thanks to the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation, IBC Bank, Tipton Ford of Brownsville, ACE Sports, Safe Guard Insurance, Hyundai of Pharr, Prime Power Services, Brownsville ISD, and JayCo Ink.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans WR and Pro Bowl Selection will attend this year’s event as the guest speaker and players and coaches will meet the NFL player. Collins caught 68 passes for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns with an average of 14.8 yards per catch. Collins has spent four seasons with the Houston Texans and leads the team with 3,220 yards in receiving. “We are excited to have Nico attending this year’s event in Brownsville, Texas,” says Amador.

District 16-3A Division I Rocky James, Rio Hondo HS Area finals lost SA Randolph 46-31

District 16-4A Division I Calallen Charlie Reeve 10-3, 6-0  lost to Bay City 28-21 regional championships

District 16-4A Division II Tony Villarreal HS 9-3 3x District champions; lost to Lago Vista in area playoffs 31-0; La Feria HC Craig Foster 5-5, 2-1 lost to Cuero in bi-district playoffs

District 15-5A Division I Clynt Elwoood Flour Bluff lost to Smithson Valley UIL State Qtrs 49-14; PSJA North Marcus Kaufmann 10-2 lost to New Braunfels 35-32 in area playoffs

District 16-5A Division I Edinburg Vela Ernie Alonzo first season 10-0; lost to state champions Smithson Valley in area playoffs

District 15-5A Division II JR Castellano Alice HS 4-0, back-to-back district champions 4A/5A; lost to Victoria West in area round

District 16-5A Division II Edcouch-Elsa HS Victor Cardenas 5-0, 9-3; led team to first district title since 2016; lost to Boerne 38-3 in area playoffs

District 31-6A PSJA HS Lupe Rodriguez back-to-back district titles; lost to Cibolo Steele in area playoffs

District 32-6A Los Fresnos HS David Cantu (10-2 season) first district title in 17 years; lost to SA Johnson 23-20 in area playoffs
