(Arlington, Texas)-It was the big plays. Richmond Randle RB Sincere Thompson took the opening kickoff and found daylight on a 82-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0. With 8:51 left to play, again, another kickoff return. This time by WR Sean Smith as he returned a kickoff for 72 yards for a touchdown as Richmond Randle held on to beat Dallas South Oak Cliff 38-35 in a wild Class 5A Division II Football Championships at AT&T Stadium to win their first school title. With 15,032 watching, Dallas South Oak Cliff took a 35-31 lead when QB Carter Kopecky scored on a 22-yard run with 9:02 left in the fourth quarter. He finished the night with six rushes for 48 yards and passed for another 106 yards and one touchdown. Oak Cliff ended the night with 44 carries for 367 yards. On the quiet side, Randle kicker Christian Munguia had a busy night converting one 44-yard field goal in the second quarter along with five extra points made throughout the game. He finished the night with eights points for Randle. The NIKE MVP awards went to RB Landen Willaims-Callis on offense and DE Ryan Mallory, who had 12 tackles with two tackles for losses on defense.
