(Arlington, Texas)-In the UIL State 2A DII Championships, Muenster (14-2) captured the title with a brilliant win over Shiner (12-4) 36-29. Shiner led 29-28 with 2:28 left to play but Hornets head coach Brady Carney watched his son, Casen find the end zone to give the Hornets the outright win. The Hornets opted for two points to end the game with a two-point conversion. The junior quarterback, Casen, ended the season with 3,163 yards passing with 34 touchdowns along with 1,599 yards rushing. He added another 32 touchdowns on the ground. On gameday, he passed for 171 yards with four rushing touchdowns. He had 147 yards on the ground to capture the NIKE Offensive MVP honors. Shiner LB Triston Vesely had nine solo tackles with five assisted, including three tackles for losses to earn MVP honors on defense.
