(Weslaco, Texas)-It was all pure, pure, purple and white defensive jerseys on Friday night as the Weslaco Panthers (3-2) handed the San Benito Greyhounds its fifth straight loss of the season with a 28-14 win at Bobby Lackey Stadium in the McDonals’s Game fo the Week-Friday Night Special. The Panthers will take a much deserved week off after starting its season at 0-2 but since then, the Panthers have picked up wins over Laredo LBJ, Laredo United, and San Benito. “Its been a tough season and San Benito is a tough team to play. Records don’t matter here,” says Weslaco head football coach Roy Stroman.

The Panthers will open District 31-6A against La Joya on the road on October 10th with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. at PACK Stadium. The Greyhounds will play State 4A Division II Champions, Carthage in its final non-district contest. (HSSMImages/DeLeon)
