(Arlington, Texas)-The 11-6A DeSoto Eagles flew past 21-6A runner-ups, Humble Summer Creek 74-14 in the University Interscholastic League 6A Division 2 Championships at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas to win back-to-back titles. “This win is special,” said Eagles head coach, Claude Mathis. “This team is incredible and our staff did a great job this season.” With the win, District 11-6A swept the two UIL 6A titles in 2023 with the Eagles winning the 6A DII title and Duncanville taking the 6A DI title.
Top-recruit, junior OL 6’8 360lbs junior Byron Washington opened up the holes with plenty of pancakes and take downs as the Eagles led 46-7 at the half.
The UIL Offensive MVP of the night was Desoto HS QB, 6’4 D.J. Bailey with 281 yards passing, four passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown and Defensive MVP went to junior defensive end Keylan Abrams. (HSSMImages/DeLeon)
